This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?
First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. The process, why culture stories, Holidays are important. Culture is…… Traditions and where you are from
Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on Maori legends. I read…. Hatupatu and the bird woman, How maui slowed the sun.
We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

Reflection:
For our production I contributed by… Helping make the artwork.
I think the show might impact on others by… helping them learn about the legend battle of the mountains.
What I learned about working with others was… that you have to listen to get something done.
have you ever done a performance?

Culture
Our learning focus for PBL this term is about cultural stories.
Hi welcome back to my blog. This week for PBL we are learning about our culture. After school we had to go home and ask our parents what culture we are from if we didn't all ready know. My parents told me that I have some Irish,English and a little bit of Maori. The Irish myth is the myth of the leprechaun. I don't really have any traditions in my family. The food in Ireland is soda bread I wounder if its made out of soda?. In Maori some of there food is potato and kumara.
What's your culture and do you have any traditions?

Healthy Harold
A couple of week's ago the life ed van came to st Francis of Assisi school. Each class had two workshops. My class learnt how to read how much of everything is in something like a chocolate bar. We also learnt about kindness and did a play on it. We all had 1 card to focus on. I was in a group with Neila and Harriet. Our play was about a boy called Cory who wanted some chocolate milk but the school didn't have any left. The life ed truck sent us back to class with a booklet that had a lot of activity's to do. That really kept us busy. I hope you enjoyed my blog about the life ed truck.
Have you ever been to a life ed truck?
